It has reached that time of year again when the cricket season is fast approaching!
Players are in the nets, sponsors are being lined up, kit ordered – it all points to the 2024 season being on the horizon, and its one that we are looking forward to with great optimism at The Green. In fact there is a social get-together planned for 9th March so get yourself along to that and get started!
The club committee under new Chairman Dean McDonald, and the various sub-committees, have been busy in the background as always, and some fresh faces in the administration have certainly provided new impetus to that work.
Ground projects are earmarked for the Spring and with our new Director of Cricket Bret Mulder firmly in place, the players will hopefully be well prepared for the challenges ahead.
Following on from the disastrous 2023 with regard to our overseas player it is hoped the signing of Dian Forrester, and James Shannon, will add depth and quality to the ranks and drive the 1stXI forward. And more recently young New Zealander Liam Hayman has agreed to join us for the season ahead – we hope yto catch up with him in the next week or two and bring more information to the site.
We thank Kieran Donnelly and Podium Apps for this refreshed website which now includes our Membership Portal along with a host of features and come the season proper, our live streaming service.
’10 Questions’ is a new regular feature (Director of Cricket Bret Mulder is up first) that will shed a little light on our members, and in the History/Stories section of the site there will be regular snippets added about our illustrious past (and some of the ‘characters’) – starting with a serialization of The Bowler.
