The club are delighted to have signed exciting young South African all-rounder Dian Forrester and look forward to welcoming him to The Green in the coming weeks.
Dian’s signature was much sought-after by club’s throughout the UK after his breakthrough year for the Knights in the CSA Domestic competitions, which included scoring a century and taking 6 wickets on debut.
At 23 years-old he is something of a late developer in terms of professional cricket, but he comes with a strong cricketing CV which includes top performances for the University of Pretoria and a prolific season in Scotland in 2022 with Aberdeenshire.
A left-handed top order batter and pace bowler, Director of Cricket Bret Mulder is delighted with his capture. “Dian’s signing is an important first step in an important close season – the whole club will benefit from having a top quality pro in place for next season when hopefully his runs and wickets will bolster the 1stXI, and off the field his presence will be a valuable asset for the whole club.”
Dian comes highly recommended by Cobus Pienaar and the Sporting Agents group, we thank them for their assistance in getting the deal done and look forward to Dian’s arrival in April 2024.
We’re also delighted that an agreement has been reached with James Shannon that will see him join the club in a playing and coaching capacity, and commit to club cricket in the province after a 4 year break.
Currently relocating to Belfast to complete a law degree at Queens, he will join up with his new teammates and coaching team as soon as pre-season training begins.
A high class former international, James was always highly respected at The Green, despite regularly scoring heavily against us, so will have the backing of the whole club to hit the ground running next year.
His record in local cricket, in particular on our high quality pitches is excellent, and I’m sure the supporters will relish seeing him in action next year.
He also brings an extensive knowledge, leadership experience and competitive edge which will be vital as the side looks to challenge for silverware once again.
Welcome to The Green, Dian & James
