Win at Moylena

An understrength 1stXI travelled to Moylena today and emerged with a 5 wicket win thanks largely to an unbeaten 80 from Mickey Copeland, who arrived from South Africa on Friday night.

In a high-scoring affair, the visitors knocked off the 199 required with a few balls to spare, with other notable contributions coming from Tom Crothers (49) and Kian Hilton (34).

Earlier with the ball, Mickey also picked up a couple of wickets while the young attack again stuck to their task well in the face of an onslaught form Van Der Merwe and latterly Ranasinge which led to the imposing total.

A North Down XI play Bangor at The Green tomorrow (Monday) weather permitting, and then all eyes turn to the competitive action which starts next week with the 1s welcoming CACC to Comber in The Premier League and the 2s facing a somewhat daunting trip to The Lawn in Junior 1.

It has been fairly low-key up to this point, now let the fun begin!

‘Fifty’ for Mickey
