Monday Round-up

Funky graphics from our NV Play stream

Our new streaming service, read all about it HERE, went live at the weekend and has been well received. Although it was just a test and a pre-season friendly, the video had 589 views on our YouTube channel. Remember all our fixtures and results, as well as the live stream, can be found in our NV Play section.

The live coverage followed the progress of the 1stXI as they defeated Instonians by 28 runs in quite a low-key friendly. On Sunday a 3rdXI lost by a similar margin against a Belfast Spartans/Dunmurry select, the highlight of which was 4 wickets for Joel Parker. The main thing was another group of players have had a ‘run out’ in advance of the competitive action which gets underway this week.

The ‘Big’ draw took place for our 100 Club and it was won by Patricia Coulter who scooped the £1000 first prize, Michael Dines claimed the £400 second while Gavin Robertson won the £200 – thanks to all those who play in our invaluable fundraiser!

The season was officially launched with our sponsors, club officials and the Mayor at an event at The Green during Saturday’s play and you can read more about that HERE.

A photo appeared online in the Comber Historical Society Facebook group that interested club members, an ariel shot of Comber showing The Green in the post-war period. Club Historian Ian Shields has been trawling through the archives again recently and as a result we have a couple of new Stories in that section of the site, these can be found HERE and make for fascinating reading as they include references to the create of the top ground at this time.
