It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Erskine Willis.
For many seasons he was present at The Green to enjoy and support North Down Cricket Club.
There was a family cricketing connection that stretched back to the 1920s but Erskine never followed that family line and spent most of his sporting life playing and administering Tennis at Comber Tennis Club.
Even though it wasn’t his first love, he was knowledgeable about cricket and always had a positive slant on the players of our first eleven and their progress.
He had a wide-ranging knowledge about our town and its development and the progress or otherwise of the sporting organisations within it.
His quiet chats and gentlemanly manner will be missed by his peers around the ground.
The Club sends condolences to Maureen and the entire family circle at this sad time.
