Last night, (Wednesday) 30th October, the club held its Annual General Meeting, gathering members in the historic clubhouse at The Green to reflect on the 2024 season and look ahead to the coming year. Founded in 1857, our club is no stranger to challenges, and while the 2024 season tested both our Men’s and Ladies’ 1st XIs, the evening was filled with a quiet optimism for what lies ahead.
Chairman Dean McDonald opened the proceedings, expressing sincere gratitude to those attending and highlighting the enduring support of our members. Hon. Secretary Staci Maxwell followed with her report, giving insights into the year’s ups and downs, while Hon. Treasurer Ian Carser presented the audited financial statement, underscoring the club’s solid foundation, albeit with plenty work to do to stay on top of the challenge.
A particularly bright spot in 2024 came from the club’s younger ranks: our U15 boys proudly claimed the prestigious Graham Cup, adding another historic win to our club’s legacy. This victory symbolizes the promising future ahead, with many players showing great potential across our youth teams.
The evening continued with updates on cricket development, shared insights on new players joining the 1st XI, and an election of officers and committee members for 2025. Questions from the floor invited a productive discussion, with the vast majority expressing confidence in the club’s direction.
With the 2025 season in sight, North Down is firmly in good hands, ready to tackle challenges and celebrate victories, big and small.
Here’s to a year of progress and, we hope, a fair share of triumphs!
