Peter Shields

Peter has been steeped in the traditions of North Down from an early age, hearing the stories about his grandfather Billy and his brother Jack and their successes in the 20s and 30s. Also hearing and witnessing the ups and downs  of father Ian and uncle Don during their long and sometimes illustrious times. He captained great 1stXI teams with great success and has followed this with leading the 2nd XI to League and Cup trophies. Highlights came at Regent House when the school won everything before it and with Ryan Haire and Andrew White they developed into forceful and dominating senior cricketers. Then off to Sri Lanka representing North Down in 2000 at the World Cup with a band of supporters. From 2000 through the noughties, Peter led the side to Senior Challenge Cups and Premier League titles at  regular intervals. Now Chairman of the club he has a driving ambition to develop young local players to reach their full potential and perhaps help steer the club into a Fourth Golden Era.
