James (Jimmy) Boucher

Jimmy was a highly respected teacher in Comber Primary School for many years and thereafter a first class swimming instructor.

He coached and managed the youth under 15 side at the club for 20 years and was himself a wily medium pace bowler in the Malinga style and when the club returned to Senior cricket in 1957 Jimmy finished the season with 28 wickets. In 1973, playing for both 2nd and 3rd XIs under Jimmy Galway and Derek Steen respectively, he won cup league cup medals and a Midweek League success and the following year he was the main bowler in another 3rd XI league win. In 1980 he captained his side to an Intermediate Cup win.

Jimmy played through the difficult post war years when club fortunes were low but was always upbeat on and off the field. He assisted in many ways around the club and was Treasurer from 1959-1963.
