Billy 'hit the ground running' at North Down 1n 1989 when he took 3 wickets for 34, including prolific run maker Decker Curry, at Rathmines in the victorious Irish Cup Final against Donemana. Two years later at The Meadow he was in the side that battled in the sun for two days to defeat Woodvale in the Senior Challenge Cup Final. Billy had a great 2nd innings taking 4 for 44 and 2 catches, one to dismiss the great Akram Raza for 67, the same player who broke an NCU cup record with his 146 in the 1st innings. A decisive moment in the game.
After a spell at Downpatrick, Billy returned to The Green and was an important player in the Senior Challenge Cup wins from 2000 to 2005, excluding 2002.
He stepped down to the 2nd XI and was a Junior Cup winner in 2006 and captained the side in the sesquicentenary year to a Division 2 Section 1 league win. Add an Ulster Cup winner's medal to that collection and you can see how successful Billy was at this time.
He also made his contribution to the club taking on the demanding job of Secretary from 2014 t0 2015.
