Adrian Thompson

A very talented Comber sportsman who played football for Comber Rec., rugby at Ards, hockey and cricket at The Green and even billiards/snooker in the ‘Big Hall’ all very successfully. In 1964 and 1965 Adrian played for the very strong Ulster Colts team skippered by ex Middlesex and Ireland captain Dermot Monteith, including prolific run scorer Ivan Anderson and legendary Billy Kirk of NICC.  He also was Treasurer at The Green from 1968 -1972 and played cricket from an early age through all the teams A genuine all rounder, Adrian played a big part in the resurgence during the late sixties / early seventies and was a key player in the ‘sixes’ side that won the prestigious RUC competition. Now resides in Donegal and coaches rugby in his retirement.
