Vice-President Leslie Anderton in the nets

The members were very sad to learn today (Saturday 5th July) of the passing of esteemed Honorary Vice President, Leslie Anderton.

Although not steeped in the cricketing tradition of North Down, Leslie made a lasting impact at The Green during his time as a supporter. From the moment he first walked through the gates, he was a regular presence—rarely missing a 1st XI game and often found in recent seasons in the company of Robin and Norman.

He was also a generous sponsor of the club, and most notably, provided the backing for our practice facilities—now the cornerstone of our ever-evolving youth programme. Quite a legacy.

Sadly, Leslie won’t be here to hopefully see those young players go on to represent—and win with—the team he supported so faithfully. Even though never a player himself, he has certainly played his part in our colourful history.

To Gillian, the wider family circle, and his many friends, we offer our sincere condolences.

With his fellow supporters
Leslie helped the club fund the provision of our practice nets.
