On Friday evening the Under 15 Boys booked their place in the Premier League final with a convincing win against Templepatrick in the semis, Jaxon with 4 wickets, Joel with 3 and Luke C with 26no completing the job. Details for the final to follow.
The M1s were given a lesson at Wallace Park on Saturday when a formidable Lisburn bowling lineup restricted our guys to 169, a total that could have been much worse without a late season cameo from the departing Kerwin Mungroo who made 42.
The home side got it with 9 wickets and nearly 20 overs to spare.
Kerwin has been a superb overseas professional – a late replacement at the start of the season when Dian Forrester was called up for the SA Academy, the big guy has led the bowling attack with a skill and discipline that most certainly helped us get the important early season points on the board.
Off the field his attitude to working with the young players has been second-to-none, it has been a joy to see the formal coaching, informal coaching, casual practice sessions, fun games, private one-to-ones, and his general enthusiasm for the game being handed down to our next generation.
We wish him well back home for his season ahead.
The M2s had a great weekend with two more J2 wins propelling the team up the league and into third spot.
Gavin Anderson, Hammy Coulter and Ryan Haire were amongst the runs at The Green on Saturday against Muckamore while it was Tom Crothers and Liam Hayman on Sunday at Woodvale.
The wickets were spread around but plenty overs for young bowlers Jaxon Dines, Joel Parker, Jacob McClure-Dalzell and Josh Corbett, and 40 overs ‘keeping for James Shields on Saturday and 20 overs for Jack Heron on Sunday.

The M3s came unstuck in the second of the days games at Ballygomartin when Woodvale 4s chased down a useful looking 179, which was made thanks to 40-odd from Iain Arthur and another quickfire fifty from Oli Keenan. Oli then suffered a nasty looking injury in the field we wish him a speedy recovery!
We couldn’t defend it though and skipper Crothers will be hoping to finish the campaign with a win at Laurelvale.
The M4s made the trek to Enniskillen in the club’s first ever away fixture at this venue, and came back with the four points thanks to a hard hitting 72 from Jack Heron, and 4 wickets for Thomas Baillie.
The M5s completed the weekends games with an excellent 9-wicket win against CACC at Roughfort, wickets spread around, top run scorer Oli Wilkinson with 30 not out – big bonus was Ian C wasn’t needed to bat or bowl so will be fighting fit for next week!
Our youngest group, ‘the minis’ took part in a blitz day at Lisburn and thoroughly enjoyed themselves – what a great start to their cricket ‘careers’!
