Finally underway!
The honour of the club’s first competitive game of the summer fell to the W2s on Monday night when they defeated their CSNI counterparts by 8 wickets at The Green.
Stars of the show were Amy Boyd and Alexis MacDonald with 3and 4 wicket respectively whilst 19 not out with the bat from Kathryn Rogers saw us home with plenty to spare.

Women’s Section Continues to Grow
After a season of 2nd places in 2023 the Ladies 1’s will be looking to go from strength to strength. Players have had the chance to cement their places in the team, however, as younger girls continue to come through from the thriving youth section, no-one is guaranteed their spot, which makes for great competition in games and training. 2023 was the first year with Ani Chore as head coach, and with his professional approach the results speak for themselves.
A number of the ladies have been busy over the winter involved in a variety of winter training sessions ranging from representative, University and club cricket. These players have led the way in preseason training, setting the standards and expectations are high.
Captain Staci Maxwell had a few thoughts on the season ahead. “There are a number of players to watch. On the bowling front we continue to have the Keenan Sisters, Gracie (Vice Captain) and Evey who have headlined the bowling for a number of years a long with Captain, StacI Maxwell. The intense winter training is very evident in the bowling of several of our younger players such as Amy Boyd, Alex MacDonald, Keziah Dines and Rebecca Webster.
On the batting side of things Amy Benson (Vice Captain), Reb Nield and Becky Irvine will provide the bulk of the runs, and experience, along with Gracie ,who will continue to open our batting. We have a new Batter/Wicket keeper in our ranks, Laila Juul-Dam, who has joined from Dundrum, already making a big impact in training and we expecting nothing less throughout the season.
Another new face, or should I say old face is Ross Copeland, who has joined us as coach. Returning to North Down in a coaching capacity after previously playing his cricket at the club.
We expect a number of our players to play in both the 1’s and 2’s, this makes for great growth within our 2’s and team comraderie.
Both teams will be made up of some more mature players along with those who still have a spring in their step and this mixture of youth and experience makes for a very exciting season ahead, we hope to hit the ground running and bring back some silverware to The Green.”
