Code of Conduct
1. BEHAVIOUR:
– Players must uphold high standards of fair play, sportsmanship, and respect for all members, officials, and helpers.
– Any conduct likely to bring the Club or sport into disrepute should be avoided, with members encouraged to report such behaviour.
– Specific guidelines include:
– Abiding by the Club Rules and the laws of cricket, and specifically abiding by the MCC document ‘The Spirit of Cricket’
– Respecting the rights, dignity, and equality of all individuals.
– Refraining from overt criticism of officials or helpers.
– Maintaining personal appearance, language, and respecting equipment and facilities.
– Wearing Club colours in competition.
2. SAFETY:
– Players must participate in recommended warm-up and cool-down routines and adhere to safety guidelines provided by club coaches.
– Reporting any discrepancies in equipment or facilities promptly to coaches or helpers is essential to ensure the safety of all members.
– Avoiding the wearing of rings, jewellery, or any other items that may pose a danger to themselves or others during activities.
3. INJURY OR ILLNESS:
Players should inform officials or coaches of any illness or injury promptly and refrain from training when injured, unless advised otherwise by qualified personnel.
4. CLUB SUBSCRIPTIONS:
– Timely payment of club subscriptions is necessary for registration and eligibility to compete.
– Failure to pay subscriptions will result in non-availability for selection to club teams, as per the rules of the club.
5. YOUNGER PLAYERS:
– Players are responsible for ensuring their parents are aware of their whereabouts and training schedules.
– Consulting with the designated member responsible for child affairs as needed.
– Punctuality for training sessions is expected, with notification to coaching staff for any absences.
6. EXPECTATIONS FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
– Positively reinforce and support their child’s involvement in cricket.
– Avoid pressuring children into activities they do not wish to pursue.
– Complete and return health and consent forms promptly.
– Ensure punctual attendance and appropriate attire for training sessions/matches.
– Encourage adherence to rules, fair play, and respect for all participants.
– Behave responsibly on the sidelines and refrain from embarrassing their child.
– Use correct language and avoid punishing or belittling their child for mistakes.
– Provide necessary clothing, equipment, and support for their child’s participation.
– Respect the decisions of officials and coaches.
– Acknowledge the role of club coaches and promote participation in sport for enjoyment.
7. SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES:
– Parents must refrain from posting harmful or offensive content about the club, its staff, or members on social media platforms.
– Posting hurtful, insulting, or abusive content may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or banning from the club.
This code of conduct and expectations outlines the standards expected of all North Down Cricket Club members, players, and parents, promoting a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all involved.
