James Niblock

James Niblock was a highly successful cricketer and hockey player who played at interprovincial level in both sports. He was also club Secretary in 1899 and 1900.

In 1895 the 2nd XI played 15 matches, won nine, lost two and drew four with Sam Davidson, the Castle Street draper on top of the averages and Malcolm Macdonald’s 31 wickets at 6.19 top of the bowling averages. James Niblock was the workhorse bowler with 141 overs and James Andrews, John Ritchie, Joe Macdonald, Sam Davidson and James Chambers, the schoolmaster from High Street, were the regular bowlers used.
